Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Explore the scientific study of psychological disorders across the lifespan, focusing on how they are defined, assessed and treated. Examine core concepts in psychopathology including diagnostic classification, clinical assessment and research methods. Analyze biological, psychological and social factors contributing to conditions such as anxiety, mood, psychotic, eating and substance use disorders. Evaluate theoretical models and empirical evidence to understand the development and maintenance of psychological disorders. Strengthen critical thinking and prepare for advanced study in clinical science, mental health and related fields. Prerequisites: PBSI 107 ; PBSI 301 and PBSI 302 recommended; also taught at Galveston campus.
