Credits 4. 3 Lecture Hours. 2 Lab Hours. Explore how psychological research is designed, conducted and evaluated using scientific and ethical principles. Investigate experimental and nonexperimental designs, emphasizing measurement, control and research validity. Critically assess threats to research validity. Examine psychometric properties such as reliability and validity. Apply statistical reasoning, as appropriate, to evaluate findings and become a critical consumer of psychological research published in peer-reviewed literature and popular press outlets. Strengthen scientific writing and analytical skills through hands-on practice and evidence-based evaluation. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in PBSI 107 and PBSI 301 ; major in psychology.
