Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Investigate the biological foundations of human thought, emotion and behavior through an introduction to cellular, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience. Examine how psychological processes emerge from neural structures and functions, integrating insights from cellular mechanisms to complex cognitive phenomena. Topics include neural anatomy and physiology, sensory and motor systems, sleep and circadian rhythms, emotion and stress, learning and memory, attention, language and mental disorders. Analyze current research and foundational theories using evidence from both human neuroscience techniques and animal models. Build a strong conceptual framework for understanding how brain activity supports cognition and behavior, preparing for advanced study in neuroscience, psychology and related disciplines. Prerequisites: PBSI 107 or BIOL 111 .
