Stereotypes, Prejudice and Minority Experience

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Analyze stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination and racism through psychological, historical, sociological and cultural perspectives. Examine how beliefs, attitudes and behaviors toward social groups are formed and maintained. Explore the lived experiences of marginalized groups. Apply scientific frameworks to understand intergroup dynamics and critically evaluate current social issues through the lens of psychological science. Course content is selected to align with the course description and the current state of scholarship in the field. Instructors who teach this class may assign different readings and/or course topics that fit within the course description and meet the learning objectives. Prerequisites: PBSI 107 .
