Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. (PSYC 2301) Introduction to Psychology. Explore the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes through a broad overview of psychology’s core areas. Investigate topics such as brain function, sensation and perception, learning, memory, cognition, emotion, personality, development, social interaction and mental health. Examine how cultural, social, individual and biological factors shape thoughts, feelings and actions. Apply psychological theories to real-world situations involving relationships, decision-making, mental health and well-being. Evaluate research methods and ethical principles that guide psychological research. Strengthen critical thinking and communication skills while interpreting evidence, analyzing behavior and reviewing psychological phenomena. Gain insight into personal experiences, social dynamics and global perspectives through the lens of psychological science. Build a foundation for further study and professional success across diverse fields. Also taught at Galveston and Qatar campuses.
