Neuroscience I - Cells, Circuits and Function

Credits 4. 4 Lecture Hours. This course provides students with the foundations in neuroscience. This course is a prerequisite for part two of this course. This course will provide an in-depth exploration of the fundamentals of neuroscience, focusing on cellular, physiological (circuit) and functional outcomes, and the second part of this course will focus specifically on the applying these concepts to the neuroscience of neurodegeneration. This experience enables integration and application of this advanced neuroscience knowledge to address the real-world challenges within the health sciences and the growing challenge of caring for and treating those with neurodegenerative diseases. This course will consist of didactic lectures, interactive exercises, as well as student led presentations and conversations. Participation in all activities is an essential aspect to the overall learning experience of the course. Prerequisites: Graduate classification; or approval of instructor.
