History and significance of tribology, rough surfaces, hertzian contact, rough surfaces in contact, friction of surfaces in contact, surface failures/wear, boundary lubrication, fluid properties, thick film lubrication, thin film lubrication, micro- and nano-tribology. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in MEEN 344 and MEEN 368 .
