Credits 4. 3 Lecture Hours. 3 Lab Hours. Toxicology is the study of how environmental or human-made chemicals can cause adverse health effects in exposed organisms, such as wildlife and humans. This course aims to provide a general introduction and understanding of toxicology, in relation to both environmental and human health. Fundamental toxicological concepts covered will include: the history of toxicology, common contaminants, disposition and metabolism of toxic substances, reproductive and genetic toxicology and an overview of toxicological testing methods. Prerequisites: MARB 215 or BIOL 112 ; CHEM 227 and CHEM 228 , or CHEM 257 and CHEM 258 .
