Credits 3. 2 Lecture Hours. 2 Lab Hours. Fundamentals of horticultural crop metabolic compounds, including secondary metabolites as they relate to plant development, nutrition, and stress responses in horticultural crops; utilization of online tools to analyze, organize, and visualize metabolite data; evaluation of organoleptic properties of the important metabolites of horticultural crops including nuts, grapes, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamentals; critical evaluation of current topics in horticultural crop metabolic research and technology to advance scientific research; exploration of applications of horticulture metabolites in human health. Prerequisites: CHEM 119 and a grade of C or better in HORT 201 .
