Introduction to linguistic diversity in the United States, particularly the relationship between English and minority languages including Arabic, Chinese, German, Navajo, Spanish, etc.; investigation of topics such as bilingualism, history of immigration, language ideologies, language shift and maintenance, as well as case studies of individual minority language groups and their linguistic practices; taught in English.
