Insects in Human Society

Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. This course emphasizes the roles insects play in the development of human society. This includes roles in human, animal and plant health, food production and nutrient cycling in natural and agricultural ecosystems. Insects also influence bioinspired design, and architecture, art, music and other media. The historic, present day and future roles that insects will have on sustainability in underdeveloped, developing and developed global societies will be discussed. Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification.
