Selected novels by 20th and 21st century American writers; emphasis on varied literary movements and on thematic and formal innovations as reflections of/responses to transformations in American society and culture since 1900. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification.
