Catalog description
Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Survey of literature for adolescents, including works intended for young adults from a variety of sub-genres, which might include fantasy, dystopia, domestic fiction and the problem novel. Students identify common characteristics of literature published for young adults, construct literary arguments using select texts and appreciate young adult literature for its particular qualities. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification.
