Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. The Southwestern region of the United States is a complicated place of competing values and cultures and peoples. In this class we will read novels and view films and artwork by Southwestern writers and artists, and we will discuss the ways these works do — or do not — reflect the complex ways in which we define the Southwest and America. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification.
