Representative texts in English generated throughout the British empire in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with attention to the cultural and historical contexts that produced them. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisite: 3 credits of literature at 200-level or above.
