Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Focus on the practice of principles and methods of technical and professional editing across print and digital media, including copyediting, comprehensive editing and editorial project management with attention to standards, style and design. Topics may include understanding rhetorical situations of editing projects; editing for organization, clarity, accuracy, grammar and usability; and collaboration with writers and editors. Students can expect to strengthen skills in critical thinking, written communication and professional collaboration while developing an understanding of the role of editors in contemporary workplaces. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisite: ENGL 210 .
