Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Exploration of historical and contemporary utopian literature through a variety of writers and texts. Topics may include but are not limited to: the relationship between utopia and dystopia; various critical theories related to utopia, dystopia and/or planning for the “good life”; myriad developments of the genre in relationship to developments of politics, history, culture and/or literary study. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisites: 3 credits of literature at 200-level or above.
