Designed to prepare medical students with specialized skills for providing comprehensive, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault; emphasizes the use of trauma-informed principles to create a compassionate and supportive clinical environment; how to conduct detailed and sensitive patient histories that honor emotional and psychological needs; introduces the legal chain of custody for forensic evidence; develops competencies for serving as an expert witness in court; strategies for managing sensitive situations; promotes ethical and professional care in cases involving trauma and sexual assault. Prerequisites: Doctor of Medicine classification.
