Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. This course provides graduate students with an in-depth exploration of assessment and evaluation in early childhood education. Students will examine practical approaches to conducting assessments of children’s learning and development, as well as evaluating teachers, programs and classrooms. Emphasis will be placed on interpreting data accurately and meaningfully and using findings to inform instructional practices, program improvements and policy decisions. The course integrates research, theory and applied strategies to support data-informed decision-making in early childhood settings, external oversight or support organizations, and policy initiatives. Prerequisites: Graduate classification.
