Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Analysis of the organization, financing and delivery of health care in the U.S. and global context; examines the demand for health and health care, the behavior of providers and insurers and the impact of public and private insurance on costs, access and quality; explores market imperfections arising from information asymmetries, moral hazard and adverse selection; evaluates the role of competition and regulation among hospitals, insurers, physicians and pharmaceutical firms; considers how policy design and innovation affect the health care sector. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in ECON 323 .
