Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Study of money, financial institutions and monetary policy in the U.S. and global economy; examines the structure and functions of financial markets and intermediaries; examines the nature, role and measurement of money; explores the organization and policy tools of the Federal Reserve System and the transmission of monetary policy; links between interest rates, credit conditions and macroeconomic performance; develops understanding of how financial systems support stability, growth and effective policy-making. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in ECON 203 ; also taught at Galveston campus.
