History, ecology, evolutionary-biology, geography and culture of the Amazon River and Rio Negro; exploration of the world’s most bio-diverse river during a 10-day expedition from Manaus, Brazil; survey biota, record observations about the ecosystem, select research topics, development of presentations. Prerequisites: BIOL 107 , BIOL 111 , BIOL 357 , or ECCB 205 ; or approval of instructor.
