Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Stresses and strains at a point, torsion of noncircular cross sections, beams with combined axial and lateral loads, energy methods, thick walled pressure vessels, theories of failure, introduction to the theory of elasticity, theory of plates, theory of elastic stability and solution to elementary problems. Prerequisite: MATH 308 or approval of instructor.
