Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Fundamentals of building information modeling (BIM) and virtual design and construction (VDC) for construction practice. Topics include building systems modeling for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection; linking and monitoring multi-discipline models; model coordination and clash detection; schedule simulation (4D); estimation and quantification through schedules and material takeoffs (5D); and exposure to industry collaboration and project information management platforms through guest presentations. Prerequisites: COSC 175 ; COSL majors.
