Empirical cases of smart and connected communities; development of critical thinking and teambuilding skills; exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration; exploration of serving vulnerable populations and small communities with emerging technologies; exploration of promises and challenges of disruptive technologies; discussion of community engagement; opportunities and socio-economic disruptions brought by the emerging technologies from a diverse and global perspective; strategies and frameworks to utilize smart-city technologies in a diverse and global society. Prerequisites: Junior or senior classification or approval of instructor.
