Credits 3. 1 Lecture Hour. 5 Lab Hours. Exploration of manufacturing and assembly of medical devices; process development and relevant regulations; includes manufacturing methods utilized in advanced medical devices; fabrication of devices for minimally invasive surgery; catheter-based interventions; implants for tissue repair; engineering theory and manufacturing process physics; polymer processing; metallic devices and metallurgy; shape memory metals; manufacturing process capability studies and FDA regulations. Prerequisite: Graduate classification or approval of instructor.
