Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. This team-taught, interdisciplinary course builds scientific literacy by examining contemporary issues — current questions, discoveries and challenges at the intersection of science and society. Topics may include the Big Bang, evolution, genetics, human reproduction and health, vaccines, drugs, artificial intelligence, cryptography and cybersecurity. Students will learn to evaluate scientific claims and critically analyze how science is presented in the news, on television and on social media. Cross Listing: ARSC 104 and PHYS 104 .
