Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. This interdisciplinary course explores the most significant medical advances that fundamentally changed the course of health and biomedical treatment. The curriculum is structured around major body systems, with each module delivered by a content expert. Students will analyze breakthroughs from the past to the current era, focusing on the scientific, ethical and societal impact of key discoveries — such as the development of vaccines, the first successful organ transplant, the introduction of antibiotics and advances in neuroimaging. The goal is to provide a comprehensive, system-by-system understanding of how medical innovation, discovery and research has shaped modern medicine. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in BIOL 111 .
