Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Physical and chemical properties of atmospheric aerosols, including their impact on global climate change, air quality and human health. Physical principles of particles suspended in air, including rectilinear and curvilinear motion in a force field, diffusion, evaporation, condensation, coagulation and electrical properties. Aerosol chemical processes including the formation, evolution and aging of organic aerosols, with an emphasis on fine aerosols. Prerequisites: CHEM 119 , PHYS 206 , and MATH 152 , or equivalent; or approval of instructor.
