Youth Development in a Changing Society

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. 0 Lab Hours. This course examines contemporary youth development as a dynamic, multilevel process shaped by relationships and forces across individual, family, neighborhood, regional, national, societal, technological and historical contexts. Students integrate personal reflection, empirical research and practical application to understand how youth grow and thrive amid rapid social change. Through readings, case studies, experiential projects and creative inquiry, students connect theory to practice and explore implications for programs, policy and professional work with young people. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ALEC 370 .
