The course examines the evolutionary and biological underpinnings of human behavior. It provides an overview of how natural and sexual selection has played a fundamental role in shaping developmental and cognitive processes in human beings. The course draws on theoretical perspectives from related fields, such as evolutionary biology and anthropology, to make predictions about how human behavior can be explained by evolutionary processes that are instrumental to survival and reproductive success. The course topics include the following: foraging, mate choice, parenting, aggression, sexual conflict, and sex differences.
