Catalog description

This course will use methodologies and texts from both literature and law, using literary analysis to read reports of famous cases while also reading novels, plays, poems, and films by paying attention to their legal subject matter. A special emphasis will be laid on literary texts written by legal professionals (novels written by lawyers, for example) and on civil and criminal cases involving writers (areas of law including copyright, privacy, obscenity, etc.). Focus is comparative, on world literary texts especially from common law countries.
