The rise of extremism in various forms over the past decades has made terrorism a complex and persistent threat to global security. This course addresses the multifaceted nature of terrorism, including domestic, international, cyber, and transnational threats, and the challenges they pose to the USA and other nations. The emergence and evolution of numerous terrorist groups across different continents are explored, examining how these groups adapt over time. While some seek legitimacy and political influence, others pursue more destructive objectives. This course places special emphasis on the rise of domestic terrorism, the growing influence of cyber-terrorism, and the continuing threat posed by international groups such as the Islamic State.
