Catalog description

An intermediate course in digital photographic techniques, tools and content issues in visual communication for publications. The emphasis is on using the photographic medium to communicate ideas, information, and emotions as necessary for a variety of media outlets, public relations, and advertising. The course also examines sequential imaging as used in the photographic narrative form of the picture story, more advanced professional editing software techniques for photo illustrations, and camera techniques for sports photography. Student work is reviewed and critiqued as to composition, technique, and the ability to communicate content. This course requires ownership of a digital camera with interchangeable lenses (such as a DSLR or mirrorless camera).
