Prerequisite: Full admission to the Teacher Education Program. Corequisite: FOED 3810. Essential concepts and instructional strategies for teaching literacy to young children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Science of reading, foundational literacy skills, literacy assessments, and language development. Effective instructional methods and strategies, such as structured literacy instruction and universal design for learning. A minimum grade of B is required to meet degree requirements for licensure candidates.
