Introduction to Public Health

Catalog description

This course introduces the field of public health and the core sciences that are essential to public health practice. Students will learn about the history of public health, the different disciplines that contribute to public health, and the core functions and essential services of public health. The course will also focus on the social determinants of health, and how they can lead to health disparities. Students will learn about the historical development of social constructs that lead to health disparities, and how to identify and analyze these disparities in large populations.
