This course focuses on the professional nursing care of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric health needs and introduces the students to concepts related to the human responses to stress, mental illness and mental health. Emphasis is placed on communication and the use of the nursing process in meeting the psychosocial and physical needs of the individuals.
