Catalog description
This course is designed to introduce future educators to life science, and to provide them with a basic understanding of the unifying biological principles common to all organisms, in preparation for teaching these concepts to students in grades K-6. Course topics include the scientific method, basic biochemistry, cell structure and function, cell energetics, cellular reproduction, human anatomy and health, Mendelian and molecular genetics, ecology, diversity and evolution of life on Earth. Three hours of lecture and one two-hour laboratory per week. This course will not count as a part of a biology sequence.
