Foundations of Physiology and Diagnostic Skills

Catalog description

This required course reinforces foundational physiology by connecting it to diagnostic findings (laboratory values and physical assessment) and patient presentations. Students will learn to link patient symptoms, complaints, and chronic medical conditions to pathological changes associated with disease development and progression while applying the pharmacists’ patient care process (PPCP). Emphasis is placed on developing clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to use physiology and diagnostic data in assessing symptoms, disease control, and medication adherence, effectiveness, and safety. The course emphasizes integrating objective patient data with subjective findings to build differential diagnoses and support clinical decision-making for optimal health outcomes.
