Catalog description

This required course introduces students to the role of a pharmacist in the healthcare system. An overview of the healthcare system, drug supply chain, and payment models will be covered, as well as the healthcare policies that have influenced the pharmacy profession and pharmacist scope of practice. The role of the pharmacist in promoting patient safety throughout the medication use process will be covered. The impact a pharmacist can have on population health will be addressed, as well as the factors that lead to different health outcomes.
