Principles of clinical microbiology pertaining to the isolation, identification, classification, and antibiotic sensitivity testing methodology and appropriateness of human pathogenic microorganisms. Principles of pathogenesis, transmission, pathophysiology, and immunology of infectious disease. Epidemiology, proper specimen collection and handling, and quality assurance in the practice of clinical microbiology with emphasis on bacteriology.
