Catalog description

Designed to evaluate advanced laboratory science students’ knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare professions, and professional attributes and strategies for student success in professional programs. Students will review concepts pertaining to specimen collection, the process and procedures for preparation of various types of solutions and demonstrate proficiency in the calculation of laboratory math problems and basic statistics for quality control programs. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the principles of laboratory instrumentation including spectrophotometry and electrochemistry. Identification of human white and red cell morphology using the microscope will be evaluated. Principles of Standard Precautions and laboratory safety will be covered.
