Catalog description

This course introduces the discipline of public administration from the perspective of the institutions which constitute American Government, the relationships these institutions engender, and their implications for urban governance. The course encompasses the four primary institutions that comprise the American political system and explores the theories and practices that dominate the study of American government and public administration in urban settings. It presents a multi-level conceptualization of government, which includes multiple hierarchical and horizontal interactions in the process of governing in the American system of democracy.
