Urban and Metropolitan Economics applies economic theory to the study of cities and regions. The course examines the factors that influence the location of households and firms, urban land use patterns, labor markets, transportation systems, housing markets, and regional economic growth. Students explore how economic concepts and analytical tools can be used to understand and evaluate contemporary urban issues, including suburbanization, segregation, housing affordability, congestion, public services, and economic development.
