Catalog description

Introduction to Urban Planning introduces students to the principles, processes, and institutions that shape the planning profession. The course examines the historical evolution of planning, the legal and political context of planning practice, and the role of planning in addressing urban issues. Topics include land use planning, housing, transportation, urban design, economic development, sustainability, and community development. Emphasis is placed on the application of planning concepts and policies to create livable, equitable, and sustainable communities.
