Catalog description

This course is an introduction to contemporary problems cities face and the various policy approaches to tackling these problems. Topics include policy issues such as poverty, unemployment, welfare, economic development, housing, education, crime, urban growth and development, transportation, health, environment, and planning. The course examines the causes and consequences of these problems and provides students with an introduction to the implications of these policy issues for both governments and urban citizens. It also addresses emerging policy issues and the future challenges facing cities in contemporary society. This is a core course for the Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies. This course is an elective for the Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies.
