Catalog description

(Formerly SOC 430). A course designed to give the student an understanding of the child as a growing organism, and how behavior is acquired; an introduction of symbolic interactionism and its application to socialization and identity; and a distinct sociological approach to behavior in relation to the family, play groups, school situations, and the community. Designed to acquaint prospective teachers and majors in Sociology with the influences of social institutions upon the child’s total development.
