Catalog description
This course provides students with the following: (1) a model for making informed consumer health related decisions; (2) current information involving informed decisions; and (3) mechanisms for continued consumer awareness and protection, i.e., sources of accurate consumer information and lists of consumer information and protection agencies. This course also examines the benefits and/or hazards associated with health related products, services and information presently available to the consumer. The methods and techniques of health fraud are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the development of individual criteria for the potential selection and purchase of health products and services. Field trips may be required.
