An introduction to the history and organization of libraries and archives housing historical collections. Students will learn about the origins, organization, holdings, and staffing of historical research libraries and archives, caring for historic collections, conducting research in historical libraries and archives, and current issues in historical libraries and archives (such as intellectual property rights, public outreach, and theft of antiquities).
