Introduction to Writing in Health Care

This introductory course provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective health-related writing and research. Students will explore various genres of health communication, including research papers, literature reviews, case studies, and patient education materials. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on writing assignments, students will develop proficiency in conducting thorough, evidence-based research, analyzing health data, and communicating complex medical and scientific information to diverse audiences. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating clear, concise, and audience-appropriate writing styles, as well as recognizing and mitigating potential biases in health research and communication. Students must pass the course with a satisfactory score of 80 or better to be accepted into the Health Care Administration and Planning or Health Sciences programs.
